Consulting Skills for Evaluators

Since 1993, Dr. Gail Barrington has conducted workshops for evaluators who are considering becoming independent consultants or who have recently begun a consulting practice. She helps these professionals assess their own skills to determine if they have what it takes to become successful consultants. Participants report that her workshop material provides them with a useful, on-going resource. She has offered more than 18 workshops for:

  • American Evaluation Association Annual Conferences
  • Canadian Evaluation Society Annual Conferences
  • Claremont Graduate University, Summer Professional Development Workshops
  • International Evaluation Conferences

Understanding Program Evaluation

Gail also presents workshops for program managers, staff and evaluators on various program evaluation topics. Her approachable manner and respect for workshop participants, along with her extensive knowledge about and experience in evaluation, make her workshops a positive learning experience.

Between 1996 and 2002, she offered 36 workshops across Canada to train staff in the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program on its evaluation design and implementation. Over 100,000 surveys were collected as a result of this training process and its related training manual. These workshops were sponsored by HEALTH CANADA.

In addition, she has conducted over 20 workshops on evaluation topics for the following clients:

  • Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research
